Honolulu Police Department Wednesday began it with images that appear on the website for the drivers of suspicion of drunk driving. In conjunction with other traffic safety programs, department, opened the program this week before the holidays, when more drunken driving are usually made arrests. "We can send photos to show that a drunk is not necessarily known criminal," said Major Thomas Nitta, director of the Honolulu Police Department traffic division. "It could be a relative, friend, a colleague."
Honolulu police on Monday arrested a driver accused of dragging an officer during a routine traffic stop in Kakaako on Sunday. Gerald Galon Jr., 29, was released from Queen's Medical Center on Monday morning where he stayed overnight. Police took him straight to the Honolulu Police Department's main cellblock. Galon was sleeping in a car with the engine running on Cooke Street for most of the morning when officers approached him, authorities said. Galon gave an officer a state ID card that was not his, police said. When he was told to turn off his engine and hand over the keys, he drove off dragging a 46-year-old police sergeant a short distance, HPD said.
"They're nice people, particularly parents. They are nice people. I do not know that a guy who raise such a thing, it can do quite shocking," said neighbor Tina corpus. Galon, the researchers were able to track down when he turned himself in Kapiolani Medical Center at Pali Momi. He was subsequently transferred to Queen's Medical Center. Police are still trying to determine who the owner of the car. It is registered by an owner in Wahiawa, but it was not reported stolen. Together with the attempted murder charge, Galon will be guaranteed on two excellent transport links and with a foreign ID.
